No. You do not need to be Jewish to audition or work with Jewish Theatre of Oklahoma. We welcome performers of all races, ethnicities, ages, religions, gender identities, sexual orientations, body types, abilities, and levels of experience.
We love connecting with artists from Oklahoma’s Jewish community and may occasionally seek performers with particular cultural knowledge or lived experience when it is important to a role. Any specific casting considerations will be clearly stated in the audition notice.

Registration requirements may vary by production. Each audition notice will explain whether you need to reserve a time or may attend as a walk-in.

Preparation requirements will be included in each audition notice. Depending on the production, you may be asked to prepare a monologue or song, read selections from the script, or participate in a movement exercise.

Audition Information

Location: Oklahoma Shakespeare

Casting Status: All roles are currently open
Actors should bring a headshot and résumé to the audition. No prepared monologue is required.
All roles are paid. Actors do not need to be Jewish to audition for this production.
Unable to Attend?
Actors who cannot attend the in-person audition may submit a headshot and résumé by email. After receiving your materials, the director will provide a side for you to prepare and record as a video audition.

Production Schedule

There will be no rehearsal on Halloween.
Performances:
November 12–15 and November 19–22, 2026
Actors should be prepared to disclose all scheduling conflicts during the audition process.
Character Breakdown
All roles are currently open. Suggested ages refer to the age each actor should be able to portray onstage rather than the actor’s actual age.
Audition sides will be available on this page before the audition. Actors are encouraged to review the material in advance, although auditions will be conducted as cold readings.

Male-presenting | Plays 18–25 |
A young Jewish draftee from Brooklyn and the play’s narrator. Eugene is observant, witty, earnest, and determined to become a writer while navigating Army life and early adulthood.

A bright, sensitive, and principled Jewish recruit from Queens. Intellectually rigorous and unwilling to surrender his dignity, Epstein becomes locked in a battle of wills with Sergeant Toomey.

A rough, unpolished recruit from upstate New York. Selridge is blunt, uncouth, and socially awkward, with a sharp comic presence.
